Shots narrowly miss Daniel Hartwick while on an early morning run along a Phoenix canal bank. A nearby runner, Cara Montero, is injured, but Cara wants no part of doctors or the police. Daniel's attempt to help Cara embroils him in a world of hidden identities, covert schemes, and spies against spies that leave him trapped in the crossfire.
