Dylan Locke knows that pining over the young ingenue Audrey Lind is pointless. He can’t offer her what she wants. He definitely can’t give her what she needs. Thank goodness she’s half a world away, and he doesn’t have to deal with his attraction head on.
But fate has other plans for him, and when Audrey once again lands in his path, it’s only too easy to fall back into their easy rhythm. And then their easy banter. And of course, each other’s arms.
He tells himself nothing has changed. She still wants forever, and he still thinks tomorrow is long enough. But watching her search isn’t as easy as he thought it would be, and now Dylan must figure out if he’s really the love Scrooge he professes to be or if he’s been Fate’s willing victim all along.
Sweet Fate has to be - hands down - one of the sexiest reads that I have read this year.
It's also one of the sweetest too.
This conclusion to Dylan and Audrey's story was something I desperately hoped it'd be - it's a story where one second I'm swooning over Dylan and his adorableness, and the next I'm a gasping mess for this sexy older man as he and Audrey threaten to melt my Kindle with their insane and intense chemistry; a story where one minute I'm laughing at Audrey's teasing and carefree personality, and the next I'm cheering on this feisty and seductive woman as she never hesitates in telling Dylan what it is she wants from him so he can deliver, and oh boy does he deliver.
Let me tell you now before I forget to later: Chapter Seven includes one of THE MOST HOTTEST SCENES I HAVE EVER READ IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. It's there that Dylan and Audrey didn't just threaten to melt my Kindle - they almost succeeded in doing so.
Laurelin Paige really blew me away with all that she delivered here in her Dirty Sweet Duet. It definitely stood out from the other duets in the Dirty Universe considering that it wasn't full of angst nor drama, nor bombshells and cliffhangers like in the Dirty Filthy and Dirty Sexy Duets'. Instead, this duet lives up to its name by being a dirty, sweet read that is light, delightful, and just downright sexy.
But as fantastic as I found this story to be, I can't help but notice one little flaw that I'm sure not many others will, and that's that I found this full-length novel to be too fast-paced, so much so that I definitely questioned whether it WAS a full-length novel because to me, it didn't really feel like on. And so because of that, I just HAD to shave off a .5 star from my overall rating - making it 4.5 Stars - as I was definitely a little disappointed that the story just didn't feel as long as it's made out to be.
But besides that, I absolutely adored this novel. Dylan is a man full of surprises, and having this book be told entirely from his POV only made the story all the more captivating. There were some scenes where I wish we could've been inside Audrey's head, but I could see why it is Ms. Paige decided to tell this story entirely from Dylan's perspective - HE's the one we need to see change his tune first-hand rather than through someone else's eyes; HE's the one who needs to be thrown from the loop of his boring and ordinary life by the ever unsuspecting Kismet; HE's the one who goes through an applaud-worthy character development that needed to be witnessed from his own perspective rather than someone else's, and Laurelin truly did not disappoint in showing all that and more in this fantastic, entertaining, fun, funny, and sexy read that you're guaranteed to devour in one sitting.
If you loved Sweet Liar, then I truly don't think you will be disappointed with Sweet Fate. Brava Laurelin Paige, for giving us yet another brilliant read. I cannot wait to read more from you soon.
Loved this book.
Wow!! What a conclusion to this amazing story about Dylan and Audrey Lind. From the moment they met, the chemistry has been charged and explosive, and this second book only showed that to be more than true.
Dylan is still trying to do the right thing by Audrey, he’s not ready to change his mind about being in a relationship, no matter how hot their connection is. Audrey isn’t about to let this gorgeous man slip through her fingers again. She’ll do whatever she needs to get him on board with her wishes.
But we still have a bit of emotional upheaval for these two until they find their way back to one another. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll probably even rage, just a little. But still after all that, how could they not find that HAE we all love to see. Grab this book today, but don’t forget to read part 1 first as this is not a standalone, and can’t be read as if it is.
