A drunk-driving accident hides more than one dark secret in No. 1 bestselling gripping thriller from the author of FIND YOU FIRST
Glen Garber's life has just spiralled out of control. His wife's car is found at the scene of a drunk-driving accident that took three lives. Not only is she dead, but it appears she was the cause of the accident.
Suddenly Glen has to deal with a potent mixture of emotions: grief at the loss of his wife, along with anger at her reckless behaviour that leaves their young daughter motherless. If only he could convince himself that Sheila wasn't responsible for the tragedy.
But as more and more secrets begin to surface, Glen may have to face something much, much worse . . .
Barclay (Never Look Away) examines the consequences of ordinary citizens making criminal decisions in the wake of the recession in this believable thriller that skillfully alternates between high-octane action and a slower sense of unease. Milford, Conn., contractor Glen Garber has a lot to deal with in the wake of his wife Sheila's death in a car accident that claimed two other lives: potential lawsuits over the accident, a fire in one of his houses, his eight-year-old daughter Kelly's difficulties at school, his mother-in-law's disapproval, and abiding anger and confusion over the accident's circumstances. In addition, some of Sheila's friends make inappropriate queries into the whereabouts of her purse during the accident, and while playing a hide-and-seek game at a friend's home, Kelly overhears a disturbing conversation that triggers a series of deadly confrontations. The sorry events in Milford are a great argument for people feeling the pinch in their pocketbooks to avoid illicit trafficking in knock-off drugs, purses, and construction materials.
Good but not great
I did enjoy this book but I didn't find it as gripping as some of his others. It was a bit slow to get going but as usual the twists and turns at the end made it worth while.
Never a dull moment
Excellent book, the characters were described in great detail, so you really got to know them. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, twists and turns throughout. :)
Fabulous thriller you won't put down .
