Publisher Description
The Alchemy of Happiness was written by Al-Ghazzali—a Persian theologian and philosopher. Upon its release, 'The Alchemy of Happiness' allowed Al Ghazzali to considerably reduce the tensions between the scholars and mystics. It thus offers many insights into traditional Muslim society.
'The Alchemy of Happiness' emphasized the importance of observing the ritual requirements of Islam, the actions that would lead to salvation, and avoidance of sin. Ghazzali finally won acceptance for Sufism in Islam, and his methods of argument and analysis powerfully impressed the scholars of the West, who imitated him extensively.

Amazing insight into the writing of Imam Al-Ghazali
A beautiful book that is almost like an introductory guide into one’s spiritual journey to God. The first part of the book covers the development and refining of one’s self both inner and outer in order to become closer to God. Once these topics are touch on in a brief and clear way, the Imam addresses the Sufis and their devotion to becoming closer to God. Additionally, the Imam continues with brief topics on self betterment and what is given to the believer to assist him on his journey. Lastly, the end goal of attaining God’s affection is addressed...the only negative of this copy of the book is that the footnotes are partially incorrect/ poorly written in some instances.
