Having studied the American Civil war at university, I would recommend. Brilliant for the price and covers all the key points of America's bloodiest conflict.

Successfully does what it sets out to do

Although it seems to be a book written by committee, with lots of repetition and redundancy, this is a good resume of the American Civil War, especially for those who already know a fair bit about it. For readers wanting details, look elsewhere (there are plenty of sources); for people hoping for a quick, self-reinforcing overview, this is the iBook for you.
