This sixth novel from Londoner Emma Curtis is business as usual—a fast-moving domestic thriller that’ll have you whipping through its pages, desperately seeking out the twists (of which there are pleasingly many). The story unpicks what really happened to baby Tilly, who went missing a decade ago. Her mother, Claudia, was jailed for her murder but how are Sara, the new wife of Claudia’s ex, and Anna, Tilly’s former babysitter involved? We dart between the three women’s wavering accounts, as all manner of family secrets bubble to the surface. Is someone lying—or are they all? An unsettling read but it’s impossible to look away until the gory denouement is done.
