Gilbert Keith Chesterton was an English critic and author, remembered as a brilliant creator of nonsense and satirical verse, essays, novels, and short stories. He published some one hundred books during his career, among which was the famous series about the priest-detective Father Brown.

Published in 1905, “The Club of Queer Trades” is a collection of mysterious short stories, which are related to each other by way of the titular Club. The stories are involving a narrator and his friend, the eccentric ex-judge Basil Grant. Each story is about someone who belongs to the Club of Queer Trades--someone who makes his living in an unique way.  The main characters are faced with a series of hard-to-explain circumstances that turn out to relate to the club...
