Gripping from the first page, this immense novel is an intoxicating and deeply satisfying read, not only a wonderful story but the creation of an entire, extraordinary world.

The Crimson Petal and the White

A wonderfully satisfying read. The description above is perfect to whet your appetite for this un-put-down-able book so make sure to set the scene ( comfy chair, peace and quiet, chocolate and tea for me!) and indulge yourself! Sugar et al become so alive that, when I'd finished this book, I had a real sense of 'missing something' for a while.
Read this book as soon as you can since I've heard recently that's it is set to be dramatized for TV. While some TV dramas are excellent, don't miss the opportunity to read The Crimson Petal and the White for yourself so you can build your own characters and visions - it's well worth it and they are there, like old friends, on subsequent reads! I have read this book twice and got so much more out of it the second time. For instance, I was more aware and appreciative of the writing, the style and descriptive prose the second time around and I feel there is still more in this book to enjoy. I hope this has helped and I REALLY hope you read it. Caz

SILVER STREET

A sublime novel, dense, rich and brilliantly crafted. It has a real immediacy to it and deserves subsequent re-readings. A masterstroke.

Wonderful

An absolute page turner from the very first!! Remarkable, engaging writing. Flawlessly compelling with fantastic characterisation. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, one of the best books I've ever read! It's abit like a raunchy / gritty dickens. A must have and it would be a shame to miss out on reading it before seeing the tv version. Enjoy!
