'For the casual racing fan it's a mighty good read, for the Senna fan it's indispensable' Time Out
Millions of people around the world watched in horror on that fateful day in Imola at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix when Ayrton Senna's car careered off the track at 190mph. The greatest driver in Formula One history was dead.
In this classic sports book, Richard Williams explores the complex Brazilian who was a hero in his own country and an icon to everyone who loved not just motor-racing but sport itself. In his drive to win and his desire always to test himself to the limit, Senna embodied all that is best and most thrilling in sport.
Customer Reviews
An excellent write up of an enigmatic and mysterious sportsman.
Brilliantly written. I read it in two days and my only criticism is like Senna's life, it was too short.
This book does not hero worship or demonise Senna but presents reported facts in a succinct fashion that makes the late eighties and early nineties seem like skip by in a heartbeat.
In my opinion it would be hard to write a bad book on such an enigmatic subject, this one does it more than a little justice.
The death of Ayrton Senna
This book is without doubt a must read for all Senna fans. It does stray away from the main focus of the book from time to time, but only to give an insight and understanding of the drivers Senna raced with. It has opened my eyes to so many things about the triple world champion that I had yet discovered from previous titles, and helped me put together the final pieces in my own conclusion of what happened on May 1st 1994. If you are a Senna fan, you should read this book.
Ayrton senna death of
Great insight into one of the greats. Occasionally changes the subject irritatingly.
