The drummer for the Cramping Violets, an up and coming grunge band, lies dead in his apartment. Nicholas Peltier knows about it. How does he know? The Devil just told him. After the death, the band becomes a national phenomenon. "Love Blender," a song that Nick wrote for them becomes number one. It's the worst song he ever wrote. It was supposed to be a filler for their album but now it haunts him just as much as Satan herself. After being sent across the country in search of a replacement drummer, he suddenly finds himself the prime suspect in the murder.
