Publisher Description

A New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestseller

In this iconic bestseller, legendary business thinker and bestselling author Seth Godin proves that winners are really just the best quitters. Godin shows that winners quit fast, quit often and quit without guilt - until they commit to beating the right Dip.

Every new project (or job, or hobby, or company) starts out fun . . .then gets really hard, and not much fun at all. You might be in a Dip - a temporary setback that will get better if you keep pushing. But maybe it's really a Cul-de-Sac - a total dead end. What really sets superstars apart is the ability to tell the two apart.

Winners seek out the Dip. They realize that the bigger the barrier, the bigger the reward for getting past it. If you can beat the Dip to be the best, you'll earn profits, glory and long-term security.

Whether you're an intern or a CEO, this fun little book will help you figure out if you're in a Dip that's worthy of your time, effort and talents. The old saying is wrong - winners do quit, and quitters do win.

I would have liked more practical tips

The book seems a bit repetitive at times, the main ideas are being illustrated over and over again using different examples ( e.g. what a dip is ). However, I would have liked more practical ideas on how to actually understand when you are In a dip and should power through or when it’s better to quit because you’re in a dead end. It feels very much like any other self-help book. All in all interesting ideas

The Dip

I’m 18 and so grateful to have found Godin’s books so young. The Dip will give a clear, entertaining and matter-of-fact perspective as to why your “friend” never finishes anything and how she can go about changing that.
There’s a refreshing lack of self-help melodrama in The Dip. Godin won’t compare your stressful new app-launch to a Spartan going into battle, nor will he intimately reveal his own adversity so you feel “OMG, SO INSPIRED!”. Instead, he dishes-out inescapably accurate information on why you quit and puts the onus on you to apply it. If you’re a somewhat sensible human-being with a long-term project that isn’t going smoothly, then I guarantee The Dip will improve your life.

The Dip

As usual Seth cuts straight to the point. I needed this book as a reminder now I already probably knew but was afraid to acknowledge. If you’re reading reviews and wondering about the dip then you probably need to read it too. Good luck.
