The exiles trilogy
This book never ceases to amaze me. From when I first read it in the 1980,s to today when I rediscovered it.
The story is epic in scale but told through very real seeming individuals in a style reminiscent to Azimov's Foundation series.
I cannot recommend this book enough, If you love sci fi that's not dominated by alternative reality, that you can follow the science behind the story then this set of three books is for you.
