Publisher Description

Sir Henry Keppel was born on June 14, 1809, in Kensington. London. He was a Royal Navy officer. He spent his first command off the coast of Spain. He was the commanding officer of the corvette HMS Dido he was deployed in operations during the First Opium War and operations against the pirates from Borneo.

Due to his abilities, he earned higher and higher titles, so in the end he became Commander-in-Chief, Plymouth.

He died on January 17, 1904, in Piccadilly, London.

In this book he gives an overview of the events that happened during the visit of the HMS Dido to Borneo and the fights against the pirates.

Before the actual beginning of the book, Keppel talks about his friendship with James Brooke, who gave him the narrative of his incredible career in the part of the world where the services of HMS Dido were required, which was transformed into this book.
