Publisher Description

THE FIELDS OF DEATH is the epic final novel in Simon Scarrow's bestselling Wellington and Napoleon Quartet. Essential reading for fans of Bernard Cornwell.

1809. Viscount Wellington and Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte have made their mark as military commanders. Lifelong enemies, they both believe their armies are strong enough to destroy any rival. But in war victory can never be certain.

While Wellington's success continues in Spain, Napoleon feels the sting of failure. Yet despite a disastrous Russian campaign and humiliating defeat at Leipzig, he persists in fighting on.

With Napoleon's power waning, the newly titled Duke of Wellington is perfectly placed to crush the tyrant. But his enemy refuses to surrender, and so the two giants must face a final reckoning on the bloody battlefield of Waterloo...

Best read in a long time.

Just like the other 3 previous books in the serious, this final chapter of Wellington and Napoleon's respective lives is pacy, interesting and intelligently wrote.

Worth every penny!!!

I haven't written a review for each book as I wanted to rate the series. I have just finished reading the final book and cannot even begin to express my thoughts. I was engrossed from start to finish. I had to download the full series after the first book as I was worried I would be on my travels and not be able to continue reading if I finished a book.

From the first word I was gripped on each character and how the author had put his own twist on events. The synergy of how each book complements the last is amazing. For example the point where bonie and the duke met a youngsters comes into conversation in the final chapter.

I now have an awful task of trying to find something that comes close to this series which focuses on 1780-1820 (approx).

Thank you Simon Scarrow

Great conclusion to a great set of books about two world famous men and their different reasons for being.
