What do you do when you can't control your feelings for someone? When you know you shouldn't go there? Not even in your head.
Annie has never experienced the 'spark' with a guy - the kind of instant chemistry that steals your breath and blindsides you completely. Until a night out with friends brings her face to face with the wickedly sexy and mysterious Jack. It's not just a spark that ignites between them. It's an explosion. Jack promises to consume Annie, and he fully delivers on that promise.
Overwhelmed by the intensity of their one night together, Annie slips out of their hotel room. She is certain that a man who's had such a powerful impact on her and who could bend her to his will so easily, must be dangerous. But she's already in too deep. And Jack isn't only dangerous. He is forbidden.

'Every kiss, every sexy scene, every word between this pair owned a piece of my soul. I could read this book a hundred times and still react as if it was the first time. The Protector is a top 2016 fave for me.' Audrey Carlan, bestselling author of The Calendar Girl series
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Malpas (The Man) spins a sizzling but not entirely satisfying contemporary tale of adulterous romance. After architect Annie meets contractor Jack in a crowded London bar, they wind up in a hotel bedroom that very night, enjoying their explosive chemistry. But Jack is married, as Annie discovers when he turns up at her housewarming party with his wife, Stephanie, in tow. And to make matters even more complicated, Jack's company is doing the build for Annie's current client. Jack is trying to figure out the best way to extricate himself from a bad marriage; embarking on a months-long affair with Annie doesn't help matters. The two live for torrid, stolen moments away from Annie's disapproving friends and Jack's abusive wife. When Annie learns something that could eliminate her rival forever, all bets are off. In her preface, Malpas notes that she expects the tale to be controversial, as most romance readers strongly disapprove of cheating. But Stephanie is such an unsympathetic, ultimately unreformable character that the taboo aspects of Annie and Jack's relationship may be mitigated a bit. A few elements don't ring true, including Jack's reason for marrying Stephanie, but red-hot sex scenes and believable angst will carry readers through to the end.

Must read
All the emotions - fab book!! Loved it
JEM what’s not to love?
So I’ve forever been a massive JEM fan.. she is my hero and I’ve read every book at least 5 times.
I will always hold Miller and Olivia so close to my heart ❤️ the one night series blows me away (10 times per book by the way… not that I’m obsessed)
But these little one hit wonders JEM creates just hit me so hard. I just love them. Theo, Ty, Jack etc they’re just flawless love stories that contain the same passion and depth as the 3 or 4 (The Brit) book series.
She blows my mind at every single opportunity and I can honestly say her writing has gotten me through so dark times.
I hope you are able to read these reviews JEM because you are literally changing lives with your writing.
Jack and Annie were meant to be and although this is my 5th time with them I always read it and get the same feelings as the first time.
Thank you.
I love you ❤️
I’m a Jack fan
Sorry Jesse!
