Publisher Description

The Girl in the Mirror is a moving and gripping story of a young woman who tries to piece together her past and uncovers a dreadful family secret that has been buried and forgotten.

When Mandy learns her much-loved Grandpa is dying, she is devasted and returns to the house where she spent so many wonderful summers as a child. But the childhood visits ended abruptly and those happy days are now long gone. Having lost touch with the rest of her family, Mandy returns as a virtual stranger to her aunt's house to nurse her grandfather.

Mandy hardly recognises the house that she loved so much as a child and it is almost as though her mind has blanked it out. But as certain memories come back to her, Mandy begins to piece together the events that brought a sudden end to her visits that fateful summer. What she discovers is so painful and shocking that she understands why it was buried and never spoken of by the family for all those years.

Girl in the mirror

Another excellent story told over a short time span and relatively fast moving. Kept me on the edge of my seat. Couldn't put it Down. You knew what was coming but until the author actually disclosed the facts you didn't want to believe your worst fears. The two stories of the grandfather's plight and the disturbing facts of abuse running along side each other but separate was told brilliantly. Disappointed though that there was an error in the text when the author said thar Mandy had walked round the garden on sunday with Simon (Ipad page 436) when she actually walked round the garden with Adam.

Amazing. A totally different story from Cathy's normal writings. I was in tears more often than not with this as it bought me close to my father who I also saw through to his natural ending too. I had flashbacks from this and it's helped me with my own, personal, thoughts. A very well written and sad story which evoked a huge amount of feelings in me. Something I'd been able to keep a lid on for the past eighteen months. Thank you Cathy.
