'The Golden Age' is beautifully written and about a little girl and her life in Hong Kong. It celebrates HK's festivals, traditions and myths along with the highlights of living in a diverse city. The chapters are long but be patient, persevere and be rewarded. The pace and the tone change as you get deeper into the book with an exciting and dramatic ending. It is a very clever book - it will made me laugh, cry and squirm - it is a very enjoyable read.
