Her literary legacy includes six novels, several short stories and non-fictional pieces, as well as the first biography of Charlotte Bronte.
“The Grey Woman” is a Gothic short story, that is reminiscent of the English fairy tale Mr Fox, and there are thematic similarities between The Grey Woman and the German fairy tales "The Robber Bridegroom" and "Bluebeard". This is the story in which a young woman marries a man whom she discovers has killed his previous wives and is trying to kill her as well.
