Publisher Description

Fundraising or fund-raising is the process of seeking and gathering voluntary financial contributions by engaging individuals, businesses, charitable foundations, or government agencies. Although fundraising typically refers to efforts to gather money for non-profit organizations, it is sometimes used to refer to the identification and solicitation of investors or other sources of capital for profit enterprises (see Wikipedia).

In Kenya, fundraising especially in the name of “Harambee” has been the nerve centre of development, especially after independence. The mushrooming of self help groups, welfare groups is a clear testimony of the author’s contention. However, it is important to note that fundraising is not an event but it is a tedious journey which requires elaborate planning. In a nutshell fundraising should be treated as a process.
