The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants put American author Ann Brashares on the map, but we think this riveting young adult tale of time travel and doomed love will win her many new fans. Sixteen-year-old Prenna is a member of a secretive community that immigrated to New York under mysterious circumstances. Forbidden from seeking medical care or relationships with outsiders, the Postremo clan are obsessed with hiding their link to a disastrous future. Prenna’s strong feelings for a classmate named Ethan lead her to question authority. Reading this romantic dystopian tale is lots of fun, thanks to sparkling writing, winning characters and expert pacing.
