Publisher Description
Victorian London: For five years, Charlotte (Charlie) Holloway has lived as a boy in the slums. But when one theft too many gets her arrested, her only means of escape lies with a dead man. Charlie hasn't raised a spirit since she first discovered she could do so five years ago. That time, her father banished her. This time, she brings even more trouble upon herself.
People are now hunting Charlie all over London, but only one man succeeds in capturing her.
Lincoln Fitzroy is the mysterious head of a secret organization on the trail of a madman who needs a necromancer to control his newly "made" creatures. There was only one known necromancer in the world - Charlotte - but now there appears to be two. Lincoln captures the willful Charlie in the hopes the boy will lead him to Charlotte. But what happens when he discovers the boy is in fact the young woman he's been searching for all along? And will she agree to work for the man who held her against her will, and for an organization she doesn't trust?
Because Lincoln and his ministry might be just as dangerous as the madman they're hunting.

Customer Reviews
The only review you need
Unlike majority of books in the English language, C.J. Archer’s books never fail to sweep you off your feet into a descriptive fantasy realm. As a non-native English speaker, it is extremely hard to find a decently written book that will match the quality and attention to detail of Polish/Russian books, simply because these languages are incomparably more vibrant.
C.J. Archer breaks this barrier and matches the best books out there. You will not be disappointed.
I don't give 5* lightly.
Music creating apps will prove that. This book is brilliant. And that the characters are continuing in a series is icing on the weirdo cake. Loved it. I even got a reply from the author herself. Dr.Frankenstein is included in a very unique story in its darkness and light at the same time.
Good but not enough for 10 books
Came back to write this review after finishing the 7th book in this 10 book series.
The story is entertaining but there’s not enough to it to string out over ten books. It’s very thin and should probably have ended around book 6.
As a reader I feel pretty short-changed as I’ve paid for the books this far but gotten half a story as I’ve decided not to buy the final three books; I’m bored. I wish I’d not started the series!
