Mason Locke Weems (Oct 11, 1759 – May 23, 1825), also known as Parson Weems, was American writer and book agent. He was educated in London and work as minister in Maryland. Financial difficulties forced Weems to find some additional occupation. Thus he became a book agent, travelling across the country, selling books and preaching. Later, via his connection in political establishment, he promoted himself as a “former rector of Mount-Vernon”.

The Life of General Francis Marion is biographical work by Mason L. Weems. It is devoted to life and career of one of the brightest characters of American military, general Francis Marion. His story is told in very picturesque manner, sometimes playing with details and minor facts in order to promote patriotic feelings. Read and you won’t regret a single page!
