Mason Locke Weems (Oct 11, 1759 – May 23, 1825), also known as Parson Weems, was American writer and book agent. He was educated in London and work as minister in Maryland. Financial difficulties forced Weems to find some additional occupation. Thus he became a book agent, travelling across the country, selling books and preaching. Later, via his connection in political establishment, he promoted himself as a “former rector of Mount-Vernon”.
