The Life of Nelson, Volume 2
Publisher Description
Mahan picks up from Vol. 1 with Nelson travelling across Europe with his mistress, Lady Hamilton, and her husband. Mahan spends a lot of time, which surpised me, discussing the affair and the apparant lack of knowledge of Lord Hamilton. I wouldn't have thought a book of the time would cover this. Much is talked about how London society reacted to this. We also get plenty about Nelson at sea and his final fate. Nelson, based on the testimony, thought he would die, and that was proved out. Nelson was a remarkable man, and deserved his place in British history. Fascinating read.
