The Mages of Starsea
Publisher Description
A mage's fate is worse than death...
Lucian dreams of a new life outside the cesspool of Earth. Unfortunately, his wish comes true when the government identifies him as a mage.
No one knows why the mages are being born. No one knows why their powers lead to madness and death in a terrifying disease known as "the fraying". The only solution is to quarantine the mages in academies.
When Lucian is exiled from Earth, he must travel to the distant world of Volsung to receive training. During the long passage, he meets a mysterious mage. She prophesies Lucian is marked by the Manifold, the reality that is the source of all magic. It is a destiny that requires Lucian to master abilities he never imagined he possessed.
But that's the last thing Lucian wants. He faces a terrible choice. To accept his new reality as a mage. Or, to try and outrun destiny...

The Mages of Starsea Book one
Yes I enjoyed it but feel it’s more YA though I’m not bothered about that! I look forward to the next book in the series …
The start of another epic sci-fi fantasy series!
I was fortunate enough to proof read this book and being a massive fan of Kyle’s work (check out wasteland chronicles you will not be disappointed!) I was excited to see what he had to offer as he had set the bar so high already. I was not disappointed.
Once again this is the start of an epic journey following Lucian who’s life gets thrown into turmoil when he discovers that he is a mage, something that society deems to be totally unacceptable.
As always with Kyle’s work the characters are brought to life and become someone to invest in, likewise with the environments are subtly described but in a way that promotes your own imagination making the story more immersive.
A great read and the start of a new hunger for me as I wait for the next book in the series.
