The Odyssey

You, Odysseus, have just conquered the city of Troy. With the help of your cunning plan of the Trojan Horse, you have emerged from the Trojan war victorious, and are returning home to Ithaca with boats full of treasure.

Suddenly, the wind picks up, and in the wrong direction. You are swept to Ismarus, city of the Cicones. You plunder the city, but become greedy and stay for too long. The Cicones regroup and attack. Many of your men die, and you barely escape with your life.  A storm sent by the Sky Lord Zeus blows you to the island of the Lotus-Eaters. You send a group of men to explore. They find the Lotus-Eaters and become addicted to the delicious fruit, and would have stayed forever had you not rescued them. You have now reached another island. You are tired, and morale is low, so you decide to stop. Your crew slaughters goats on the island, and while exploring you find a cave full of cheese. Your crew urges you to take the food and run. That would be safe, but imagine the guest-gifts your host might give you. That is the custom, after all
