In her newest, Gardner (The Perfect Husband) indulges her fascination with the dark side of family life, where the ties that bind also gag, choke and strangle. Professional event planner Melanie Stokes does not suspect that the death of a serial killer in a Texas electric chair 20 years before could have any relevance to her neatly ordered existence. But as it becomes clear that the life she's known (as the adopted daughter of Boston cardiologist Harper Stokes and his trophy wife, Patricia) is based on ugly secrets and bloody lies, her world unravels. With the help of FBI
Customer Reviews
Very good!
After reading other reviews, I was dubious about starting this book. That said, whilst it’s not the best one from Lisa Gardner, it is very readable. An interesting storyline with a not so obvious twist at the end! Glad I didn’t listen to the doubters!
Awful
Started off great, the sample was gripping but literally the minute I bought the full book it was like another writer had taken over. It turned into a badly written Mills and Boon. I'm on page 200 and I can't read any more.
Just awful...
Too many plot holes to describe (why did he do this? How did she lose her memory? Please go into more detail about Russell lee and his family?). In addition to this, the writing is shoddy and the characters are somewhat one dimensional. Avoid.
