Is love powerful enough to cross the class divide?

When Daniel Davenport saves Maddie Lockett and her young brother Tom from drowning, an immediate bond is forged between them.

But Daniel is an aspiring doctor and son of a wealthy manufacturer, whilst Maddie is a potter’s daughter from a poverty-stricken area of the Potteries. Even a friendship between the two could be frowned upon, let alone anything more …

But Maddie and Daniel want more, and as they grow closer gossip and prejudice look set to spoil their blossoming romance. Do the young couple stand a chance when there are those who would stop at nothing to keep them apart?

History and romance together

If you believe in everlasting young love then this is the book for you.
It was a challenge for me to accept that a girl of 16 and a boy of 18, coming from opposing classes, would meet, almost instantly fall in love, overcome all the obstacles they faced during their relationship and finally manage a HEA. Even teenage lovers Romeo and Juliet were fated.

Historically accurate, the author describes the plight of the working class in their daily struggle to survive on low pay, atrocious housing, ill health and the constant threat of unemployment. Life in the Potteries in early Edwardian England was short lived.

If a reader is able to accept Daniel and Maddie's improbable relationship they will enjoy this historic romance.
