Publisher Description

Forget George and the Dragon. Forget Sir Lancelot and tales of Knightly exploits. This is dirty, bloody work. This is violent, visceral action. This is a mercenary knight as you've never seen one before.

Twenty eight florins a month is a huge price to pay, for a man to stand between you and the Wild.

Twenty eight florins a month is nowhere near enough when a wyvern's jaws snap shut on your helmet in the hot stink of battle, and the beast starts to rip the head from your shoulders. But if standing and fighting is hard, leading a company of men - or worse, a company of mercenaries - against the smart, deadly creatures of the Wild is even harder.

It takes all the advantages of birth, training, and the luck of the devil to do it.

The Red Knight has all three, he has youth on his side, and he's determined to turn a profit. So when he hires his company out to protect an Abbess and her nunnery it's just another job. The abbey is rich, the nuns are pretty and the monster preying on them is nothing he can't deal with.

Only it's not just a job. It's going to be a war ...

Superb adventure

The Red Knight has just hired his mercenary band to the Abbess in order to protect her nunnery from attacks by The Wild. However, he has underestimated the threat and will be forced to use all his secrets in order to survive. Meanwhile the great Powers of the World are stirring and plotting including the ex-King’s Magus who turned traitor decades ago and wants power at any cost…

This is Book 1 in the Traitors Son series and it is superb. I had put this on my wishlist some years ago and finally got round to purchasing and reading it. I should have done it sooner. The characters are realistic (albeit strangely written as immature) and the plotting strong. At times the pace of the book is uneven; sometimes quick, othertimes slow but this does not detract from the book overall.

Highly recommended.

A really excellent story.... But the punctuation and missing words....oh dear

I really enjoyed this read, I was gripped from the word go. I think the plot was excellent and it was very well put together and tied up neatly at the end.

All I would say is for the love of God get a decent copy text editor, as many of the words made no sense sometimes and although I get the gist it sometimes makes me have to re-read a sentence for the bit I am reading to stack up. The editing is terrible.

Having said all that I will be reading the next one as the content is really top notch. A very enjoyable read!!

The Red Knight

After the first 10 pages I was completely and utterly hooked - it built up beautifully and cleverly, and I just could not put it down! Roll on another!
