The Serpent Road

Tohil has spent his whole life in the shadow of a temple no one dares enter — until the Elders speak of the Dark Serpent riding the sky, and he's handed a message, a map, and a task he never asked for. With Xquic and a small band of companions, he sets out across a world of warring tribes, forgotten cities, and half-remembered gods to reach the Great City before the Seelee return.

The Serpent Road is built on real Mayan cosmology — the Popol Vuh's own creation myths woven through Tohil's journey — layered with genuine, unexplained archaeological mysteries: roads built without wheels, cities abandoned without cause, sacrifice rituals whose true purpose was lost to time. Speculative fiction grounded in real myth and real questions historians still can't answer.
