It is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the evil Edward Hyde. The novel includes religious allegory, detective story, suspense, motives of Scottish tales and gothic novel. In accordance with culture of the Victorian era, the novel represents a concept of duality of human nature and the conflict of humanity's sense of good and evil.
