The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Robert Louis was a Scottish poet, essayist, and travel writer, who became the classic of the world of children's literature, as well as the horror genre. Being a literary celebrity during his lifetime, Stevenson wrote stories of fortune and risk, pirates and exotic islands, as well as detective stories and gothic novels. 


‘The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’ is a novel, first published in 1886. It is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson who investigates strange occurrences between his old friend, Dr. Henry Jekyll, and the evil Edward Hyde. The novel includes religious allegory, detective story, suspense, motives of Scottish tales and gothic novel. In accordance with culture of the Victorian era, the novel represents a concept of duality of human nature and the conflict of humanity's sense of good and evil.
