The Tangled Web

Martin Ferris wakes up on a clifftop on an island off the Cornish coast. It is a stormy autumn evening. He discovers he is marooned, apparently alone on the island. How did he get to be here?

He begins to realise that he is in a most dangerous situation. He comes across a young woman who seems to know who he is, although he has never met her before. There is also an army Major, ex-Sandhurst and the Guards, who is apparently expecting him to turn up at the castle on the island. And a police superintendent, special branch, clearly suspects him of treachery.

Martin soon comes to the conclusion that he is in deep trouble. These people have decided he has been selling state secrets to the Russians. That means he is facing imprisonment or maybe even death. Somebody on the island doesn´t hesitate to commit murder. He could be the next victim.

But Martin is a fighter. He won´t simply let these people push him around. He escapes from his confinement and confronts his accusers. It is dangerous, but he has the courage to face them and save himself and Tina from transportation and the "suicide shot" which is lying in wait inside his head.
