Heartbreaking and beautifully written

The description of this brave family through an horrific time in our history is so well portrayed, I loved it, fell right into the story. Knowing there was some real history there behind it after reading the ending is even more remarkable. Thank you.

Moving book

It a very well written book. I was so engrossed in the story while I was reading it. I had a feeling what the ending will be like while I was reading it but when it finally confirmed by the plot I must confess that I did cry. I cried because of the injustice those people had to suffer and I was always trying to think what would I have done if I would have been born in those times. I liked both of the stories. I could understand Alice’s frustration and the way she shifted her attitude towards her husband. I now I will go and read a bit about Trzebinia. Thank you Kelly for writing such a wonderful book.

Eye opener!

Amazing yet heart breaking book, couldn’t put it down but also a real eye opener, I’m sternly telling myself off for being so miserable during lock down when I have it so easy in comparison to some of the characters in this book.
