The Travels of Tuckmouse is a tale about the secret world of mice that invisibly interleaves the greater world of human kind. Written for the enjoyment of children and grown-ups alike, The Tales record the history of Toby Tuckmouse, Esquire, shopkeeper of Bluebell Rise in the heart of the nineteenth century English countryside.

To outwards appearances a model of sober, Victorian respectability, Toby cherishes secret ambitions of travel and adventure. His dreams come true when a family crisis launches this involuntary traveler upon a mission to the mysterious and exotic land of Egypt.

He travels variously by steam train, horse tram, sailing ship and other means, meeting with strange creatures, odd folk and daunting experiences along the way. Arrived at his destination, Toby encounters fresh adventures.

Ever the perfect gentleman and upholder of traditional values, Toby engages all challenges with characteristic courage and resource.

Faithful to the style of the era and true to detail of period and place, this story gives a mouse’s eye perspective on a bygone era when Britannia still ruled the waves; when the map of the world was largely coloured pink and travel was not as easy as it is today – not even for mice.
