Publisher Description

Read the inspiring Sunday Times bestselling memoir from the first woman, and woman of colour, to serve as Vice President of the United States.

The daughter of immigrants and civil rights activists, Vice President Kamala Harris was raised in a California community that cared deeply about social justice. As she rose to prominence as a political leader, her experiences would become her guiding light as she grappled with an array of complex issues and learned to bring a voice to the voiceless.

In The Truths We Hold, Harris reckons with the big challenges we face together. Drawing on the hard-won wisdom and insight from her own career and the work of those who have most inspired her, she communicates a vision of shared struggle, shared purpose, and shared values as we confront the great work of our day.

A compelling life story and a galvanising account of how meaningful change is made, The Truths We Hold offers essential insight into Kamala Harris’s life and career.

Insightful, Inspiring and Informative

Kamala Harris’ autobiography has given me real insight particularly into her earlier years as DA, AG and senator. Obviously we all now know her as the Vice President of the United States (and candidate for President), but her book explains so much of what she stood for and did before being put into the national spotlight.
I thinks it’s an absolutely incredible read, and as a bit of a policy geek, I love the details about many policies and bills Harris has proposed / fulfilled.

It’s alright

I’ll be honest, as a black woman I wanted to hear Kamala’s journey to being Vice President. The pinnacle of her career & inspiration to a lot of people. However, the only interesting section was the beginning where it was more of a bio. Less than 1/3 of the way in, I’m really struggling to read let alone enjoy this book. It would’ve been better placed for policy makers than general readers
Update: after a while, Kamala’s career passions start to unfold. & her love story too. So liking it more now
