The Unreasoning Earth

The Unreasoning Earth is set in rural Leicestershire in the First World War. Love, loss, grief and passion mingle through its pages with the changing rhythm of the seasons and descriptions of the exquisite English countryside against which it is set.


At the centre of the story are Julie Stead and Tom Bright, sweethearts and fiances who have to part when Tom is called up to fight on the Western Front. Tom's experience of action is short-lived but horrifying. His best friend dies in his arms. He himself is wounded and taken prisoner. When at last he returns to Leicestershire he has changed forever.
