Publisher Description

This sutra, commonly referred to as the Diamond Sutra (Jin Gang Jing), is central to the massive seven hundred and one volumes of the so-called Wisdom Teachings of the Buddha.

This second edition sheds new light on “the teaching beyond words and letters.”

Often called “the diamond teaching that cuts through all delusion,” the Diamond Sutra is Shakyamuni Buddha’s stunning answer to his disciple Subhuti’s question about enlightenment.

Includes commentary by Master Hsuan Hua.

Explained by Master Hsuan Hua (1918 - 1995) Chinese monk, founder of City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in California and over 20 other monasteries and temples all over the globe. He received the mind-to-mind transmission of the Patriarchs from Master Xu Yun at Nan Hua Monastery, the bodhimanda of the Sixth Patriarch Hui Neng in Canton, China.

English translation by Bikshuni Heng Chih, a western born Buddhist nun ordained in the Chinese Mahayana tradition under the guidance of the late Master Hsuan Hua. She is currently a Lecturer in Buddhist philosophy at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. She holds MA and PhD degrees in Translation of Buddhist Texts from the Dharma Realm Buddhist University.
