'Heartstoppingly chilling' Daily Express
Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the sole inhabitant of Eel Marsh House.
The house stands at the end of a causeway, wreathed in fog and mystery, but it is not until he glimpses a wasted young woman, dressed all in black, at the funeral, that a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold, a feeling deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black - and her terrible purpose.

The Woman in Black
Having seen the trailer for the movie, I wanted to know about the story. It has taken only one day for me to read this heartbreaking and chilling tale. I can honestly say that this is far from my usual read, but so glad that I have.
Sensational pocket read
Great small book, so descriptive and elegantly haunting that I had to stop reading it before bed!!
Speechless.
After I had finished this incredible piece of literature, I must confess that I was completely speechless. Going through it all again and again over in my mind, reliving the isolation and terrifying events.
Susan Hill sets such a believable and scary atmosphere within the book and adds just the right amount of physicality which, if overdone, could ruin such a well crafted 'ghost' story.
Thoroughly enjoyable read... Chilling, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Now please bring one of my favourite stories of all time, also by Susan Hill - I'm the King of the Castle, to iBooks please.
