This novel is a family's story with three meaningful and embedded in deep time layers. One of her protagonists, Bence Mikes, is still a crazy, inward-looking, locked-up young man, but at the age of adulthood, she is already a loving, responsible family member. While the other protagonist is Kate Valló who refuses to submit to the conventions at home and feels self-sufficient until he gets married as a family member! Then we can see both of them as an elderly couple; daughter of a daughter is born and she is trying to raise her daughter as a caring parent!
