Raquel Álvarez has one goal - to become a psychologist. Well, that and to get Ares Hildago to notice her.
For as long as Raquel can remember, she has been obsessed with Ares - her rich, hot, mysterious neighbour. Even though he lives next door, Raquel has never spoken to him - until a chance encounter reveals her crush is anything but unrequited, and their steamy attraction grows into something much more.
Raquel is all in with Ares. But Ares can't, or won't, commit, as his struggle with personal and family responsibilities leaves little room for falling in love.
What burns bright burns fast, but for Ares and Raquel, can it last?

Discovery
I picked this book because I was intrigued by the fact the author started to write on Wattpad although I prefer romcoms than romance stories. But this is neither. It’s a coming of age story and it shows that in some places relationships still the same as a few years ago. There is a lot of emotional writing which feels very natural. A story which is quite difficult to transfer to the screen because so many details necessarily need to be lost in translation. So brave of Netflix to produce the adaptation. It also hints even if in a teenager world at two elements which often threaten relationship. The development of obsession and the often inexplicable attraction of opposites. Maybe I would enjoy it more if it was a little shorter but I was surprised at the way the story kept the reader’s interest for so long.
Must be read and seen
I like the book a lot, and the film was good too, but the book was way better, I wish the author overlooked the filming. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the whole trilogy on Netflix, but there was something off about Raquel on the screen. Sometimes she came off a bit desperate to me, but in the book she had more like “I know I’ll get you Greek God” attitude. It is a YA book I’m guessing, but I’m sure people of any age enjoy it, because I sure did, in my early thirties. Go for it and read it ❤️🔥
