About the author
Trevor Williams lives in Devon with his Italian wife. He lived and worked in Switzerland, France and Italy, before returning to run one of the best-known language schools in the UK. He has taught people from all over the world, among them Arab princes, Brazilian beauty queens and Italian billionaires. He speaks a number of languages and has travelled extensively. He has eaten snake, live fish and alligator. A Spanish dog, a Russian bug and a Korean parasite have done their best to eat him in return. He has written historical novels, humorous books and thrillers. His hobby is long-distance cycling, but his passion is writing. Familiar territory!
Having spent a lot of holidays in Provence in my teens in the late 1950s/early 60s. it was lovely to be reminded of happy times. When the town of Manosque was mentioned, it took me back the time I took a flying jump into the swimming pool there thinking it was the deep end. It wasn’t and I ended up with a hairline fracture in my foot! The wonderful all-pervading smell of thyme and Rosemary in the air is something else I remember well. I loved Provence, especially away from the coast, more the farming/vineyard parts. It all came alive for me again, reading this book, so thank you for this evocatively-written story.
Warm, witth and sparkline!
What a wonderful, feel good read! Set in Provence, the author makes the most of the setting and incorporates it successfully into this book with lots of descriptive passages and I doubt that anyone finishes this without thinking what a fabulous place it would be to live - and how much they want to move there!
This is the story of Faye Carter, a young woman fluent in both English and French who receives a surprise invitation to attend an interview for a possible position in France. It is the beginning of an amazingly warm read full of great characters, wonderful surprises and don't forget the labradors! Anyone who knows me is aware of my love for these wonderful dogs and T. A. Williams has their personalities and foibles off pat. Marlon and George are fantastic additions to this novel which is such a glowing, sparkly read.
I've so enjoyed reading this one. It's a fine uplifting tale, both warm and witty (labradors again!) and I'm so happy to know this author's work. I now have to catch up with all his other books! If you enjoy a positive, feel-good read, then this one fits the bill. Highly recommended without any hesitation whatsoever.
