Publisher Description
Faith Fernandez is a schoolteacher in Los Angeles and Dr. Christian Luxford "Chris" is a neurologist in Baltimore specialized in sleeping disorders. Two ordinary strangers, except for one important detail: they can sense each other. They always have. Especially in their dreams.
Until recently, both coped with the oddity reasonably well since the perception was somewhat vague, allowing space for the imagination, which provided some sense of control. In fact, they quite enjoyed their dream encounters during their teens with guilty pleasure. But maturity soured the experience. It wasn't normal and they sought to put an end to it. While Faith downplayed Chris as a product of her imagination, Chris began to worry she signaled the onset of something more serious, thus his career choice and specialization.
When Chris is offered the opportunity to advance his research in Los Angeles, he accepts unaware his move will trigger a tragic event with a serendipitous outcome: Faith suffers an assault that leaves her trapped in a state of prolonged sleep while lucid in her dreams, and he is the expert assigned to her case. The shock of discovering that his lifelong imaginary companion is a real woman is only surpassed by disbelief when realizing their connection is telepathic in nature and that he is now her sole contact with the outside world.
As they reinitiate their nightly encounters amid feelings of distrust, curiosity and attraction, Chris must race to unravel the mystery behind their connection, as it is Faith's only hope for recovery, while shielding her from a threat he soon learns has been trailing them for thirty years.
