Eloquently painful
12 years a slave
A true account of kidnapping and slavery, heart wrenching.
Everyone should read this
Gripping and moving. Written in the period described it allows the reader insight on many levels. It is not a cry for pity or vent of anger but a humble account. Humble words that bring the society and culture of the time alive. Written, brilliantly, I suspect to help the anti slavery campaign. It is fitting that it will now raise awareness in people of the lessons of history.
