Beautifully Written, but
Lord of Light is the mostly highly acclaimed novel by Roger Zelanzy. It’s beautifully written and crafted, the language is clever and elegant. The main characters (for me, Sam and Yama) are interesting and their adventures, on a per chapter basis, engaging. And yet overall, the intricate weaving and Hindu mythology didn’t take me on a journey and the ending was a bit whatever. I’m glad I’ve read it, but I won’t revisit and can’t recommend, although it surely is a work of art.
