Publisher Description
Lara was seven when her birth mother died from a drug overdose. With no extended family to look after her, she was put into foster care. The care system failed Lara and now she is failing her son.
Lara and her one-year-old son, Arthur, are brought to experienced foster carer, Cathy Glass, by their social worker. Lara has fled an abusive relationship and Arthur has suspected non-accidental injuries. Cathy must monitor Lara whenever she is with her son, day and night. She cannot let them out of her sight for a minute.
Lara loves her son, but she puts her own needs first. Cathy must teach Lara how to care for Arthur, but will it be enough to allow her to keep him?

Cathy Glass
Does this woman have to be such a do gooder? I mean, it’s totally understandable for her to foster children & keep wanting to improve their lives- but please, stop going into such over inclusive detail about EVERY THING. It’s too much! How does she find the time to polish her halo?!! I have read a lot of these types of books regarding the rescue of vulnerable neglected & abused or abandoned children, there are some really interesting stories & as an abuse survivor I am naturally drawn to them. . . . But this Author seems to be inhuman in her need to be perceived as being perfect!! As for the ‘lashings’ of gravy!! How embarrassing & indicative of her having read too much Enid Blyton (?) & as stated, trying to be too good to be true. Sickly & irritating as, I will not be rushing to read any more of her stories. We are all human & make mistakes, think some negative thoughts, need to let loose or at least try? Good for her to have been a Foster Carer, for all the good things she has done & yet, real human beings are much more important, lovable & real. I can only imagine as to how much other abuse survivors who were not rescued or helped feel when reading 1 of her stories. Please make allowances for my own humanity & being in touch with reality.
Enough!!
