When she stepped out from behind the changing screen, which Julia considered a bit odd because the students were going to see her naked so why did she need privacy when she was actually taking off her clothes, she was barely noticed by the class. Another student was on the dais, already posing. His name was, much to Julia’s amusement, Art. Short for Arthur, he had told her at the beginning of the class. She had just nodded. He was on the other end of the body spectrum and needed to lose about seventy-five pounds of fat to be within the American Medical Association’s guidelines for body weight.

“We have a new model today. Her name is Julia. Please show her some appreciation,” Professor Reidt said when the timer buzzed and Art stepped down from the dais. There was a murmur of thank-yous around the room that quickly died out at Julia stepped up to the posing stool. “Please stand as if you were running,” Professor Reidt said. Only then did he look up from one of the student’s drawings of Art and inspected Julia for the first time. He, like many of the other students, froze in place to just look at her.

It made Julia uncomfortable but she tried not to let it show. After a long, uncomfortable minute the students remembered themselves and she could hear the scratching of their pencils on the paper as they started recording the position of her body. Julia spent most of her first few minutes staring at the wall and tried to affect an attitude that she had done this hundreds of times before. She didn’t know if she was successful or not, but it made her feel better to have that attitude.

After the first few minutes of being uncomfortable in the front of the class Julia started to settle in. It wasn’t such a big deal to be naked in front of a roomful of people. They were art students and she was just a model, a body, to them. Yes, they looked at her, but they were just looking at her poses, they weren’t leering at her. All of them had easy access to the internet and if they wanted porn or nude women or nude men, those were easy enough to find. But then her eyes fell on Professor Reidt and Julia realized that he was leering at her.
