When 17 year old Edgar London moves to New Bern, Pennsylvania  following his father’s appointment as Governor he expects to find nothing but apathy in the lonely valley.

But he will soon discover that there is a very good reason for him to be afraid. He uncovers desires that threaten all that is near and dear to him. Cast out from his family into the night he knows only that from now on it is too dangerous to let anyone get close to him.
