Publisher Description

Villa Le Lac is a small house in Switzerland. It stands on the northern bank of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva; Genfersee) near Vevey to the west of Montreux. The house was designed by Le Corbusier (Charles-Édouard Jeanneret) and his brother Pierre Jeanneret for their mother and father. It was built in 1923, the same year that Le Corbusier’s seminal book Vers une architecture (Towards a New Architecture or Toward an Architecture) was published.

Villa Le Lac can be analyzed as an experimental house. In its design Le Corbusier tried ideas that were to become part of his distinctive contribution to twentieth century architecture.

    Highly recommended

I really enjoyed the book, and highly recommend it. It gave an analysis of Le Corbusier's building in an enlightening and accessible way. The animations were particularly good, and explore what is possible with an e-book. I look forward to reading the next in the series!
