Waiting for the Mermaids

Seventeen very short stories. It all starts with Alice, who feels the need to explain something about a book to a complete stranger, and ends with a student who might have taken that day's writing prompt a bit too far. In between, there's a lot going on, including a mysterious baby sleeping in a basket, a man who almost got away with adultery, and a dog named Tequila.
