Publisher Description
With two tours of Iraq under his belt, Sergeant Dave Henley knows what modern war looks like. But nothing can prepare him for the posting to Forward Operating Base Senzhiri, Helmand Province, Afghanistan. This is a battlezone like he's never seen before.
He's in charge of 1 Platoon, a ragbag collection of rookies who he must make into a fighting force - and fast. But this is a brutal, unforgiving conflict which takes no prisoners. Their convoy is ambushed on the way to the FOB, leaving two men grievously wounded - before they've fired a shot.
Back at home, Dave's wife, Jenny, seven months pregnant, must try to hold together the fragile lives of the families left behind, who all wait for the knock on the door and the arrival of bad news...

War Torn
A departure from McNabs usual fast paced stories. Still the stunning action but interlaced with what's happening at home with wives and girlfriends giving a females perspective of what it's like having a partner who is a soldier who could be killed or badly injured at any time.
War Torn
The best book I have read in many years. Very different to the SAS stories of McNab and Ryan. Seriously wonderful development of characters and the reality of combat. The heat, the sweating, the nerves, the weight of your kit. The worry of what’s happening at home. The isolation and the team spirit. Really insightful book and a gripping read. The style in which it is written is so much better than the usual McNab stuff. You can almost smell the sweat. Great book!
