Sweet n sour
The duke is middle aged, arrogant and ruthless. But also has a wicked sense of humour which he turns on himself almost self-deprecatingly (in private)...wouldn't do to show weakness.
Some other reviewer mentioned story is character-driven, which is refreshing as there is no murder, espionage or other ruse to move it along.
Would prefer a slightly longer 'ending' or maybe i am just reluctant to see the end of the sparring between the h and h.
